but it’s probably time I start.

So I moved to Beijing,
I was invited to work on the Zhang Yimou movie “The Great Wall” staring Matt Damon, Willem Dafoe, Andy Lau, Pedro Pascal, Jing Tian, Lu Han.
After the project, I was invited to stay at Base-FX as a Concept Artist. They have given me the chance to work on a big variety of projects, both chinese and american movies. Things have been going very quickly this last year, and I’m looking forward for more, but it didn’t give me the time to post. I will try to share more eventually!
Here is some sketch made in Beijing in 2015…
I’ll post some photos soon also!
Here is a fast little project I did last winter in order to give some self-made chrismas gifts.
The artwork is an assembly of sketches and vector patterns I made earlier in 2013. I then screeprinted those in order to get the result you see now. It was a fun little project, lots of mistakes since it was a very fast thing (two days in total) but it was nice to get back to the screenprinting table (it’s been a while!)
JULY 15 1995 – SREBRENICA
Here is the first artwork of the new serie I’m working on, called Frontiers of Myths (Les frontière des Mythes in french).
it’s serie of the wars in Yougoslavia in the ’90. I was only ten years old at the time, and it was the first time I realized that not everybody was having a confortable childhood like me. The fact that genocides, systematic rapes or other methods of destroying a population were still happening in the nineties, and so close (in the middle of Europe!) was shocking for me.
It took me several years to go back to the subject, but I still feel strongly about those events, so I decided to do a serie about that subject. Here you can find the first artwork I’m releasing, the rest is coming in the next days!
On July 7 1995, The Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) under the command of General Ratko Mladić invaded the city of Srebrenica, located in a UN protected zone. During the whole week, the soldiers will capture and kill the population trying to escape the city.
We estimate between 6000 to 7000 victims, most of them males of any ages.
2361 victims have been identified to this day.

A selected group of artists from all around North America will be presenting and selling some of their homemade screenprints!
If you don’t own a screenprint yet, then it’s the perfect time!
I’ll be showing one of my projects alongside the some of Canadian’s big names:
Sophie Casson, Marie-Eve Gauthier, Véronique Meignaud, Vilx Mu, Johnnycrap, Beans & Bacon, just to name a few.
There will be also “gigposters” screenprints made from american “Flatstocks” by Gary Houston, Billy Perkins, Nate Duval, Gregg Gordon, Bobby Dixon, Jared Connor, Farley Bookout and more!
Even bigger names!
It’s going to be awesome. SERIOUSLY.
Andy McDougall, the master screenprinter behind squeegeeville, will be present at the event and will also be giving an advanced class following the exhibition. Actually…the class is full already…but the exhibition isn’t!!!
Since I started this venture, I kept myself locked in small formats.
For what? Scared of loosing too much material. time. money. whatever. In the end, it just pissed me off. Badly. What’s the use?!?! In my head, it’s all about large canvases. All the time, It’s getting bigger and bigger in my head. Painting, sculptures, well hell yeah, but not if it can go through the door! (We will deal with the problems related to that statement later!) It’s like a Jenny Saville painting, it’s a blast in the face, you get in the room and baaaammmm, you’re destroyed by the weight of what’s in front of you. Could be this. Could be that. either way you are crushed.
I mean, yeah, small format has its use, but in the end, I look at it and I feel like him doing shit. So I stopped whining, put on the largest piece of paper on the wall, and threw myself at it with a piece of charcoal like there was no tomorrow. “Now canvas… it’s between you and me. And I ain’t coming down without a fight.” That’s what I wish I had said. something like that, or even better: “If we’re about to die anyway, I’d rather die fighting!” (awwww Neverending story…)
I’m happy. It’s not much about the end result actually. it was the fight. Intense, and actually quite short. After two hours I had nothing left in me. I left the studio, had a good sleep, and then came back several days later to finish the last details. I hope this piece transmit the intensity I had when I was drawing.
I like it for now, I’ll pursue in that vein. I want to go on with the same energy, so I started a new one already. hopefully, I will not trash it before the end, but lets not give a damn for the moment shall we. I’ll just concentrate on doing what I want.
