Horse I

I feel horses are a good way to practice grey tones. The muscles give a similar feeling to humans, but still, its anatomy is more forgiving than drawing a nude. Even though it’s not much of a problem with traditional media, I’m not to the point where drawing a nude on the computer is comfortable, I’ll proceed by small steps. Shades first.

So I did this as a practice and decided to push it a little bit.

Daily Practice

Since I started working in the new company, I’ve been working daily on my digital art before I can get some time for oil painting: now that I’m in China, I don’t have a studio anymore.

I’ll get my colors and shadings in order before putting it into traditional medias. So here is some of the showable drawings made in the last days.

The rest of the team are all amazing digital artists, so its inspiring ;) Gotta get my skills up to par.

I’ll give the originals credits:
- original drawing by O O Joo (check on artstation)
- sculpture by Fred Fichet
- Original oil painting by Nicola Samori

Training as Ashley Wood Junior

Here’s an artist I really like, Ashley Wood.

There is something amazing with his style, so rough it’s immediately recognizable but almost abstract at the same time. As if all his paintings were thick with dust in the air.

Well, my title made me laugh, I’m not really trying to be Ashley Wood junior, but want it or not, reproducing painting from the masters is the best way to practice a style.
Just to make sure: all the rights goes to his work, and so on, I’m not planning on making anything with that painting. except practice.

So here it is. It’s not done yet, but you can see the first layer.

There’s other stuff going on, but I’ll post them on monday! :) Be patient!
